We are creatures of habit, some good and some bad. How many
things do we do each day that are counter productive. We have
all developed bad habits that start to eat away at us like
parasites if not corrected. We tolerate this because it is
easier than making a change in ourselves. Bad habits become
part of us, always there, almost like your best friend.
Eliminating or correcting a bad habit takes mind control.
You have to want to make positive changes in your life before
you can actually accomplish this. The first step is to realize
what bad habits you have. How do they hold you back or
interfere with your life, your goals.
The next step is committing yourself to eliminate the bad habit
that you have identified. You must have determination in order
to have success.
Now we need to replace the bad habit with a good habit. Lets
look at some examples, being late is a bad habit, replace this
with always being early. Lets replace worry with meditation and
deep breathing and procrastination with no time like the present
attitude. You get the picture. It takes effort to make the change
and in a short time the good habit will be normal activity.
In summary, identify you bad habit, accept it's existence and
verbally and in writing commit to the change. Remember who better
than you is worth your energy.
